Aerosol valves are regarded as the heart of aerosols and have an extremely important impact on the quality and performance of aerosol products. As an important part of aerosol product, the valve directly affects the ejection effect of our entire product and the user experience effect. Then we are coming to the problem of "how to choose the right and quality aerosol valve and actuator for the aerosol products?".

Before discussing this point, we have to talk about the type of aerosol valve first.

What are Aerosol Valves?

The objective of the aerosol valve is to regulate the entrance/exit of a fluid or vapor to or from some source (Aerosol can, tank, container, etc.).  A specific sub-goal of the aerosol valve is to atomize the contents of the source so that it exits as a fine spray.

Because of its characteristic, aerosol valve is widely used in paint, grease, lacquer and other aerosol products. The valve can help it evenly sprayed on the product. In today's world, aerosol valves are a compact, portable, reliable and convenient addition that atomizes liquids into the hands of consumers at a very low cost.

Aerosol Valves

Aerosol Valve Type on the Market

Aerosol valves are classified mainly by their structure, characteristics and functions.

1. Classified by the basic structure of the valve, which can be divided into male valve and female valve.

2. Classified by the use of the aerosol valve

Upright valves (including positive pressure and oblique push valve)

Suitable for: Stem fixed, mounting cup fixed and can fixed push actuator

Applications: household goods, pesticides, automotive goods, industrial goods, personal care products

Inverted valves

Suitable for: mounting cup fixed type inverted push actuator

Applications: hair mousse, road marking, carpet shampoo, dust mite killer

360° valve (also called Up/Down Valve)

The 360° valve sprays reliably regardless of whether the can is used upright or upside down;  this valve assures correct function and constant spray quality.  This type of valve can be filled with the existing filling equipment, no modifications or adaptations are required.

Applications: automotive cleaners, CO2 based aerosols, road markers, lubricants, garden insecticides, nitrogen-based aerosols, etc.

3. Classified by the spray effect of the aerosol valve, it is mainly divided into:

Dosing valve (each time the actuator is pressed, the aerosol can quantitatively release the contents according to the design requirements.

For the metering dosing valve

Principle: The volume of the valve is fixed by the special design of the valve stem and the size of the valve chamber to control the volume of spraying each time as the valve is pressed.

Applications: inhalers, air fresheners, pesticides, aromatherapy.

Continuous valve (press actuator mechanism to release inclusions continuously.)

4. Classified by aerosol valve seal cup size, these can be divided into the most common one-inch valves and 20 mm valves, as well as special 13 mm valves.

Aerosol Valves

Quality Aerosol Valve should be Meet 4 Factors at Least as Following

1. Aerosol valve should be reliably and effectively spray out the aerosol content, but also has good sealing performance in the closed state, so that the aerosol content does not leak out.

2. Aerosol valve has to withstand the erosion of various formulations and adapt to the high speed and high pressure filling performance of the production line.

3. Aerosol valve should have a certain degree of firmness and strength to withstand the high pressure in the can.

4. The quality of the components of the aerosol valve and the control of the fit between the components is crucial.
